In his award-winning film, Christopher Jaymes seeks to capture how narcissism behaves. In Memory of My Father is an unfeigned plunge into second generation Hollywood royalty. Don’t let the title fool you, this is no sad, melodramatic, suffering over the death of a father type of film. It’s a day-in-the-life of three brothers coming to terms with their own quandaries, flaws, and failings. A portrait of a self-proclaimed legend, conveyed by the observation of his resulting, equally confused offspring on the day of his death. The Hollywood movie mogul/father is no different than the rest of the characters in the film—--bloated with ego. His belief that his death would shake the film community generates his final cinematic idea. He bribes his youngest son Chris to document the journey of his fading life, despite the fact that the last thing on anyone’s mind at this point is mourning.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR Jaymes is currently in development for the feature film entitled Self Help, which he is writing and will direct in Winter 2006. He recently completed the novel, Boxing Day about his experiences in Thailand where he spent six weeks assisting with the tsunami relief effort, which is now becoming a screenplay. He is set to direct a thriller entitled Dead Weight over the end of Summer 2006 and is producing a documentary on the consumer world of Self Betterment Products and Activities. Previous acting credits include: Father’s Day, Party of Five, The Profiler, Chicago Hope, and more. He attended Berklee College of Music studying Arranging and Orchestration and has toured, recorded, and played as a pianist with various artists, and has directed numerous music videos.
