War erupts in Europe as Germany invades Poland. Eight months later, Hitler would publicly broadcast that he would not invade Holland due to their neutrality during World War I. Within hours, this promise would become a treacherous lie that would engulf the small country in the Second World War But soon there would be another war – a war within a war. A war overlooked by history, where the combatants were citizens; their weapons, secrecy and sabotage; and their mission, the preservation of human life. These unlikely soldiers were impelled by the belief that life is divinely breathed into every man, no matter his culture, race, or religion. They were the members of the Dutch Underground, who would later be known as the Dutch Resistance – men and women who set aside their dreams, their very lives, to help the Jewish community find refuge from the murderous Nazi advance. The Reckoning: Remembering the Dutch Resistance is a compelling story and eyewitness account of six survivors in war-torn Netherlands during World War II. With the revelation of Hitler’s ‘Final Solution’ and the uncertainty of liberation, it reveals the intensely human aspect of the Dutch struggle against Nazi Tyranny.

This interactive video installation addresses the eventual loss of Lake Michigan's ice cover -- the lake's preserver -- due to climate change. The sounds and images presented in this work were collected in Muskegon, Grand Haven and Holland in order to preserve a memory of the 2007 winter coastline's stark and beautiful features and a reminder of the importance of this powerful yet fragile Michigan resource.
